Last Day of September.

Today I covered an Environmental Rally at Hendricks Chapel that focused on reducing carbon emissions, and acknowledging the severe state of our current environment. Another huge aspect of the rally was raising awareness that our generation has the ability to create change. It was very empowering, and the atmosphere was awesome. Howie Hawkins, Green Party candidate for NY State made a guest appearance and even shared some passionate words with all those gathered for the rally.

World's Widest Tongue.

On Sunday, I took on a story for Newshouse that allowed me to meet and take pictures of Byron Schlenker, a Syracuse resident who holds the world record for having the Widest tongue.

Oprah.

Today I got the opportunity to take pictures of the one and only Oprah Winfrey for S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Today my roommate and extremely close friend Umar granted me the opportunity to photograph him in his natural environment: surrounded by boxes upon boxes of sneakers. I wanted to make some environmental portraits that portrayed the importance collecting sneakers has in Umar's life. It is something he has been passionate about since he was in middle school, and I really got to have fun with the shoot because he was so cooperative and easy to work with.

Today I spotted a few police officers about to examine a car that had a boot on its driver side front wheel. One of the officers found the trunk to be open, and crawled over the rubble of children's toys and other miscellaneous household items, into the back seat via the trunk to unlock the rest of the doors before giving the car a somewhat thorough search. The boot was removed, and a tow truck driver eventually came to take the car away. I'm going to be using these photos for a weekly assignment for my photojournalism class: shooting a sequence, and selecting one photo which goes beyond the sequence itself. I think the photo of the officer climbing into the back seat through the trunk really sets itself apart from the rest of the sequence which is probably somewhat of a normal occurrence.
