On Friday afternoon, I got the opportunity to help out my good friend Drew with a photoshoot at the Z89 radio station. We had the music on, and it was a really fun atmosphere to work in.
I covered a number of polling stations in the nearby area surrounding the University. My hope was to catch students voting but the result of going in the mid-afternoon revealed mostly seniors and stay-at-home moms.

I got the opportunity to help out my friend Victoria with a fashion shoot for one of her class projects, and we definitely got to get creative with it. I don't normally do fashion stuff, but the goal was to give the photos a nomadic, mystical feel, and that's basically what I was trying to work with. I used natural light for most of the shots, and the addition of the strobe for some of them.
Today marked the conclusion of my first ever Newhouse Fall Workshop.
It was an exhausting three days, beginning Thursday evening and going straight through this afternoon, when all of the projects were finally presented. It's quite difficult to put in words the amount I feel I have grown over just the weekend alone. I was working with Syracuse resident and recovering addict Jose Morales, 47, who sells cigarettes on the streets to support his current wife and infant son. Jose, his wife Frances, and their entire family were incredible sweet, and it was truly an enlightening experience spending time with them. The workshop was one of the most incredible and enlightening events I have ever taken part of, and working under wise and talented coaches Stacy Pearsall and Peter Caty, I learned more about making picture stories, personal editing style, and who I am as a photographer than I had ever imagined.
